Jefferson County Teen Court is now accepting student volunteers for the 2023-2024 school year. The Teen Court program provides high school students with education regarding the law and courtroom procedures through a real- world experience. Students work with local attorneys and judges to try actual cases that have been referred by the court designated worker that handles non-violent criminal cases involving children under the age of 18. Teen Court training and court sessions are held in the evenings and/or on Saturdays and do not conflict with school hours. Student volunteers must attend all four mandatory training sessions and be sworn in to serve on Teen Court. For more information, please feel free to reach out to the Teen Court coordinator, Noelle Haegele, at (502)744-9364.
